We run an annual Trainee Scheme (for graduates) and an Internship programme (for those pursuing graduation). Both schemes have been designed in partnership with BBC News and are paid opportunities at Collective Newsroom.
We give specialised training to staff working in hostile environments like war zones or in situations involving public unrest. We emphasise mental wellbeing with access to confidential employee assistance services.
Staff are given world-class training from the day they join us. This includes training in essential journalism like storytelling, newsgathering, verification, digital video production, using analytics tools, data journalism and leadership development to name a few.
Colleagues also have a chance to apply for a mentor or become a mentee themselves with strong emphasis on learning and feedback. We run programmes like Hot Shoes and attachments where staff are given a chance to move around within the organisation, work with another team for a select duration to gain new skills.
We run three dedicated staff networks that help us become more inclusive.
These are Diversity & Inclusion, Sustainability and Women in News.
Each network is run voluntarily by a group of colleagues who come together to support each other and enable positive change based on shared ideas or life experiences.
